About Us

The humble beginnings of Mair’s Continental Motors began as an idea in late 1974 with the Mair family taking a gamble that the Reading area was in need of a dedicated independent German car repair shop. Short on funds but focused on an American dream, Mair’s Continental Motors opened its doors in the Spring of 1975 in historic Stony Creek Mills, Pa., a few miles to the east of the city of Reading. As with many new small businesses, it took a bit of time to earn a reputation and gather the trust of the area’s German car owners, but within a year the parking lot was packed with cars so deep that tow trucks had to drop their hauls in the street. Around 1977, MCM attained their dealers license and began buying and selling vehicles. Business was so brisk that in 1979 MCM added an extra bay to their building and in 1980, acquired another local garage whos owner was retiring and turned that garage into an overflow facility where longer term projects were undertaken. 

Throughout the years, Mair’s Continental Motors continued to grow by staying up to date with the latest repair techniques, specialized tools and equipment. In the summer of 2023, the service side of our business was spun off and is now called MCM Auto Repair, lead by our long term master tech Jeffrey Baird. Jeffrey continues to advance his knowledge of the newest trends and procedures to ensure quality repairs every time. The Mair’s Continental Motors dealership still exists in the same location as it had in 1975, however we have gravitated towards an order-only business where we will find the vehicle you are searching for as opposed to having cars for sale on a traditional type car lot. 

We’ve expanded our range of services to include Pre-Purchase Inspections for any vehicle at any location. Along with our PPI service, we specialize in aiding perspective buyers with the sale process, vehicle storage and repair options as well as transportation needs.
